Cranford Riverfront Redevelopment

Project Description:

Alberto & Associates teamed with K. Hovnanian for the development of a site located adjacent to a New Jersey Transit rail station in Cranford, NJ. The mixed-use design concept incorporates a mix of residential units, commercial/retail space and community amenities that followed Township Smart Growth guidelines and New Jersey State Transit Village Standards. Architecturally, A&A integrated the local vernacular aesthetic and created a pleasing street-frontage by dividing the block-long structures into multiple segments. The site design transitioned from higher density adjacent to the NJ transit station to lower density into the surrounding single-family residential neighborhoods through a transect of building types. Public amenities included a riverfront park and parking garage with a shared parking agreement with New Jersey Transit riders.
